In search of the best server
A lot of people have been trying to find the ideal place to play. A lot of servers go up, and then go down. Of course, I'm talking about Minecraft. On this blog I'll write a lot of short things here about this game. Part of the reason why, briefly, is because a lot of people know me from this name from the Minecraft community. Another reason why is because it's a website for SpacePuppeh. My username and online identity is connected to this game a lot, so at least to start, I'll post heavily on gaming subjects, and probably expand outward. If you have suggestions for me, write to me about them, I always appreciate hearing from people.
Now, revisiting the point of this post – in search of the best place to play – I really had thought about this myself in terms of making the best Minecraft server, since I ran these for so many years. It was so much fun meeting new friends on there and coding, crafting, downloading – many things to make it the best I could make it. My style of servers was heavily semi-vanilla, and I found this the most fun. In fact, I still do find it the most fun.
So far I have only discussed what it's like to quest for the best place to play but not to find it. This is actually because I have not really been able to find it, other than the ones I made myself. According to my own preferences it’s really the best thing I ever made online. Or, I could say, really that’s how it feels. It felt like the best thing ever online.
The question then is one of personal preferences. I haven’t discussed a lot of the game modes and more about the experience of finding it. That would be a great topic for another post as it would require a lot of detail and another style of writing. Overall, yes it is about personal preferences but more specifically it is about community and a sense of purpose with it. You might think this sounds a bit all-encompassing since I’m talking about paltry gaming communities, these are just to bug off on for 25 minutes before class – or something. Well, that’s true, too. But it’s not what some people are looking for. They are looking for a place that lets them create their own secondary world that allows them to explore the game in question. To use Minecraft, it lets them explore their creativity, sociability with others, their boredom to find the next thing – and so on. So it’d require a lot of flexibility to find the best place to play. Administrators who don’t bother you and force you to play their way, and players who join your gaming session as well as people who want to do their own.
What is the end result of all of this? It’s a place that works well with the sandbox model of gaming, and others who respect this. That will be the ending point of this post. Sandbox games I am suggesting are the best games and finding a server where the true point of those can be respected and others who view it this way would lead to a lot of happiness.
Find a server that feels like a true sandbox. That’s my advice.
